Since hemp was legalized in 2018, Texans have been able to buy almost all the same products consumers can get in fully legal states; flower, vapes, edibles, drinks, topicals, and tinctures, albeit with very low levels of THC. Like many other states where only hemp is allowed, Texas has seen a rapidly-growing industry CBD industry, several cities have voted to decriminalize, and there are some seriously dope cannabis community spaces starting to open up.

As host Brit Smith discovers on her road trip around the Lone Star State, Texas now boasts several high-end dispensaries, CBD cafes, and community events. Brit visits Mary Jae Dispensary in Austin, where consumers can smell the different kinds of hemp flower before buying, pick from a world-class selection of pipes and lifestyle products, and join their social club to come together with other canna-curious Texans for toke and twerk classes or puff and paint nights, without fear of the law.

Brit also learns about the state of medical marijuana in Texas with Denton-based medical advocate Chris ‘Gramps’ Grisola, Political Director of Republicans Against Marijuana Prohibition John Baucum, GoodBlends Dispensary’s Community Outreach Manager Terrence Baugh, and Texas state Rep. John Rosenthal.
